Our Mission

 The Smithville Volunteer Fire Department, in keeping with a legacy that started in 1895, will endeavor to protect the public from fires and disasters, medical emergencies as first responders and rescue them from danger. We will be a resource for public education on fire and medical safety. We will be "ALWAYS READY" to respond!

Company Profile

The Smithville Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1895. We are still "All Volunteer" and provide Fire, Rescue and Medical First Response to approximately 158 square miles of Eastern & Southeastern Bastrop County and Western Fayette County. We are based in the City of Smithville, Texas and operate out of two stations. We currently have 36 active firefighters and 6 Reserve firefighters. Our fleet consists of 3 Class A engines, 3 brush trucks, 3 tankers, 1 rescue, 1 utility squad and 2 boats.

We are one of three departments in Bastrop County not funded by an ESD (Emergency Services District). We are funded by the City of Smithville, Donations and minor funding by Bastrop County. We receive no funding from Fayette County.
